Leopards Take On Sagehens

Claremont, CA - The University of La Verne men's water polo team took on the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens at Haldeman Pool in SCIAC action.

This match-up was the second time the Leopards played the Sagehens and they were seeking revenge and a conference win. The match started with Pomona scoring the first point of the game. Two minutes later, La Verne would get on the board as Ryan Lebrun found the net to tie the game at 1-1. After the Sagehens scored another goal, Lebrun would counter with another goal, tying the match at 2-2. James Cano would score a goal for La Verne before the first period ended, cutting the deficit to 6-3 as the second quarter began. The Leopards would score three goals in the second period but would trail at halftime 12-6. 

The duo of Ryan Lebrun and Peter Trinh would take turns finding the net in the third quarter, as the Leopards would combine to score five goals in the period. Fourth-quarter action would see La Verne claw its way back defensively, only allowing one goal scored, but would not be able to pull out the victory as they fell to the Sagehens by a final score of 18-13. Peter Trinh led La Verne with 6 goals and Ryan Lebrun scored 4 goals in the match.

The Leopard will take on the Occidental Tigers for their final match of the season Saturday, November 12th. The match starts at 11:00 am.
