Huntsville, AL - The University of La Verne women's basketball team opened up its 2022-2023 campaign on the road as they took on Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama.

The game was the first of a three-game southern region road trip to start the season. The Leopards defeated Oakwood 93-83. Head coach Jason Pruitt was pleased with his team's performance in their season opener. "We are pleased with the outcome.  The ladies played hard.  This was the first time that we competed against anyone outside of ourselves. As always, things could be better, but we will have to put the work in to improve.  Anytime you have over a dozen new individuals doing anything together for the first time, there will always be challenges.  We are just thankful that the Man above has blessed us with the opportunity to play a game that we all love.  Win or lose, we are just trying to improve and be better people on our journey. We are looking forward to what the future might behold."

The Leopards will travel to Pulaski, Tennessee to take on Tennessee Southern. The game starts at 4:00 PM PST.
