ULV Announces Resignation of Head Women's Basketball Coach Jason Pruitt

LA VERNE, CA – The University of La Verne has announced that Jason Pruitt has resigned as the head women's basketball coach. Coach Pruitt will be moving closer to family and has accepted the head coach position at Elmhurst University.

Coach Pruitt successfully helmed the Leopard women's basketball team for the past seven years, and most recently led the team to a 2023 regular season Conference championship title, earning him and his staff the 2023 SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

"These decisions are hard and never easy, nor made without a ton of thought and prayer," said Coach Pruitt. "My family and I are so appreciative of all the friends we have made here at La Verne and in Southern California. I'm truly thankful to the University of La Verne and the SCIAC Conference for allowing me to use my platform to recruit student-athletes that might not have normally received the chance to display their academic and athletic talents at the NCAA Division III level. The program is set up for success and I look forward to cheering the Leo's on in the future!"

"We truly appreciate Coach Pruitt and thank him for everything he has done for the Leopard women's basketball program," ULV Athletics Director Dr. Jenna Panatier said. "He led the team from 3-22 to 24-3 in seven seasons, showcasing his commitment to creating a championship program elevated by extremely talented and strong women. Coach Pruitt has set a solid foundation for the program's future."

The University of La Verne will conduct a national search for the next head coach of the Leopards.
