La Verne, CA- The University of La Verne women's basketball team hosted the Simpson Redhawks for some nighttime action here at The Tents.
Three Leopards championed the court as the shooters of the first quarter. Chiara Brown and Dejanee each popped two layups, and Marissa Howell, in her natural element, drained two three-pointers. Casey Kuramoto and Dawson Bell joined in on the scoreboard action, totaling 9 points together in the second quarter. With half of the Leopards' points scored off Redhawk turnovers, the Leopards led at halftime, 33-19.
Chiara Brown had a great defensive third quarter with 5 defensive rebounds and her first three leading to Leopard baskets. The Leopards continued their large lead heading to the fourth quarter, 51-31.
In the fourth quarter, with her fourth three-pointer of the night, Marissa Howell moved up to 9th all-time in three-pointers in University of La Verne history. The fourth quarter lit a fire for the Leopards after a Redhawk technical foul. The game ended with the Leopard's 9th win of the season, 68-50.
