Golf Team In Action At Jekyll Invitational

The University of La Verne golf team opened play at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, posting a team total of 307 after Friday's first round of action at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Georgia.

The Leopards sit in 11th place heading into second round play on Saturday.  Oglethorpe is the first round leader at 291 and hold a one-stroke lead over Methodist (292).  Illinois Wesleyan and Transylvania are tied for third four strokes back at 295.

"We did not play our best golf today, but we still have 36 holes to get back in the thick of this tournament," said Leopard head golf coach Chris Davis.  "The team and I are very confident tomorrow will be a better day, and we'll see where we are at heading into the final round."

The second round gets started tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. from the Pine Lakes Golf Course.
