The University of La Verne men's golf team took a seventh place finish at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational from Pine Lakes Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Ga., finishing Sunday's round with a with a team total of 300 to collect a three-round total of 907.
Illinois Wesleyan placed first overall with a total of 882, followed by Methodist (890) and Oglethorpe (893) to comprise the top three schools.
The Leopards placed three golfers within the Top 30 among individuals.
La Verne's Derek Zachman and Paul Gomez completed the tournament as the lowest scoring Leopards with three-round totals of 225 as each tied for 18th place among individuals. Zachman shot 74 while Gomez carded a 75 during Sunday's round. Kelby Scharmann tied for 29th overall with a three-round total of 228.
Both Kevin Holliday and Trent Twamley each tied for 57th overall by posting 232 for the tournament.
La Verne will next be in action at the West Cup Tournament (March 25-26) held at Goose Creek Golf Club.
