Claremont, CA - The University of La Verne men's basketball team traveled to Claremont, California to take on the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens in SCIAC action Thursday night. The Leopards went into the game seeking to claim their first conference victory of the 2022-2023 season.
Starting the game with several players out, La Verne looked to its reserves to make magic happen in the road contest. Playing the Sagehens in an uphill battle with major contributors out for the game, LA Verne would compete in first-half action, disrupting the momentum of Pomona-Pitzer. When the halftime buzzer sounded, La Verne would enter intermission down by a score of 38-22.
The Leopards would try valiantly to take control of the game in the second half but would be unable to secure the victory as they fell to Pomona Pitzer by a score of 79-51.
Tavares James led La Verne with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals.
La Verne returns to The Tents to take on UC Santa Cruz at home on December 17th. The game starts at 2:00 pm.
