Leopards Host Poets On Senior Night

La Verne, CA - The University of La Verne men's basketball team hosted the Whittier Poets at The Tents for their final home game of the season.

The Leopards recognized their five seniors and their contributions to the program during their careers. Alex Blanco, Austin Rapp, Paul Antonis, Brad Yasukochi and Brian Adams were all saluted before the opening tip. Head coach Richard Reed, who recently became the all-time wins leader in the history of the men's program was also honored before the game with a varsity La Verne sweater.

Senior Brad Yasukochi would score the Leopards' first point of the game on a free throw giving LA Verne an early 1-0 lead. Throughout the first half, the game would remain close, as both teams never separated by more than four points. A late Whittier run gave them a 52-27 lead at halftime.

The second half of play would start off with the physicality and intensity of the game increasing significantly. A Poets run was combatted by a Leopards run midway through the 2nd half, as LA Verne would close the deficit to 14 points. The Leopards would manage another late half-run but would not be able to gain control of the game, as they would fall to Whittier 87-70. Senior Brad Yasukochi would lead La Verne in scoring with 17 points. Kyler Harvey would have a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds while Brian Adams added 15 points and 5 rebounds.
