Thousand Oaks, CA- The University of LA Verne volleyball team traveled to Thousand Oaks, California for a Friday evening SCIAC matchup with Cal Lutheran. This matchup was special for both teams as it was the annual "Aces for ALS" match. Both teams came into tonight's game with an undefeated record in conference play and were looking to further establish themselves with this SCIAC battle.
La Verne won the first set 25-19 and the second set 28-26. After scoring the first point of the third set on a kill by Mya Ray, the Leopards would trail the entire set, falling to Cal Lutheran by a score of 25-22.
The fourth and fifth sets would see the Leopards hit a scoring lull as Cal Lutheran would capitalize and take victories in both sets 25-13 (fourth set) and 15-7 (fifth set).
Mya Ray had 13 kills for the Leopards and Olivia Reuckert added 5 blocks. Jordyn Patton had 20 digs and Madison Smith had 2 service aces in the match.
The Leopards return to action tomorrow at home against Claremont-M-S. The match starts at 2:00 pm in The Tents.
