Whittier, CA - The University of La Verne took on Whittier College in Tuesday's SCIAC play. As the Leopards try and maintain to stay at the top half on SCIAC rankings, this was a must-win for the Leopards.

The Leopards won the first set 25-18. The Poets fought back winning the second set 20-25. The third set could have gone either way with the Leopards prevailing 26-24. In a hard-fought set, the Leopards won their last set 25-22.

La Verne was led by three Leopards with double-digit kills. Mya Ray led her team with 18 kills, solidifying her SCIAC offensive player of the week award. Senior Ayana Mier had 17 kills as another offensive leader. Kari Essef was one kill shy with 11, from tying a season-high.

Defensively Nalani Young led the Leopards with 15 digs. Jordyn Patton also contributed with 9 digs.

The Leopards next game is against Occidental College, Friday, October 21st at The Tents.
