La Verne, CA - The University of La Verne volleyball was back in action tonight, taking on the Occidental Tigers at The Tents. The Leopards defeated Occidental earlier this season in Los Angeles and were looking to complete the SCIAC regular season sweep.

Occidental would score the first point of the first set, but La Verne would soon tie the contest up. That would also be the last time that the Leopards would trail, as they would take the lead and control the remainder of the set, winning by a score of 25-17. The second set would start in the same fashion as the first set did but it would remain closer in score for the duration of the set. Midway through the set, Occidental would have a five-point advantage, leading La Verne by the score of 10-5. It was then that the Leopards dug deep and fought to take control of the set. La Verne would score three straight points to close the game to 10-8. La Verne would continue to fight, tying the game up at 18 apiece. The Leopards would then grab control of the game, winning the set 25-20.

La Verne would finish off Occidental in three sets, winning the final set by a score of 25-21. Freshman Mya Ray led the Leopards with 14 kills in the match and junior Nalani Young 13 kills to go with 6 digs. Jordyn Patton contributed 20 assists in the match.

The Leopards return to action tomorrow at The Tents against UC Santa Cruz. The match starts at 2:00 PM.
