Los Angeles, CA - The University of La Verne volleyball team traveled to Los Angeles, California for a Friday night match with Occidental College. Tonight's match-up was another battle for positioning in the SCIAC standings.
The Leopards were riding the momentum of a big come-from-behind home win over Whittier on Tuesday night at home and looked to continue their winning ways on the road. The first set of the match belonged to the Tigers of Occidental as they defeated La Verne by a score of 25-21. From the onset of the first set, the Leopards fell behind and were unable to secure the lead. With the start of the second set, the Leopards would win the first of three straight sets over Occidental. The Leopards scored the first three points of the set en route to a 25-15 victory. La Verne would win the next sets by scores of 26-24 and 25-13. Mya Ray and Ayana Mier each led La Verne with 10 kills. Nalani Young had 12 digs in the match.
Back-to-back wins for the Leopards moved the record to 11-6 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
La Verne returns to action Tuesday, October 11th at home against Chapman. The match starts at 7:00 PM.
