Laguna Niguel, CA - The University of La Verne volleyball had three players honored by the SCIAC with post-season awards.
Mya Ray earned Newcomer of the Year and First Team honors after leading the conference in kills per set at a whopping 3.98 and a .256 hitting percentage among those with at least 350 attacks. She also ranked second a close second in digs per set (3.35) among hitters while adding 26 total blocks and 20 aces.
Senior Ayana Mier was named Second Team All-SCIAC. She 160 kills in SCIAC play and 27 digs.
Senior Jordyn Patton took home the Character Award, which is presented to a junior or senior who best exemplifies success on the court, in the classroom and involvement in community and school service. The senior has been recognized for countless leadership and other roles on the La Verne campus, including serving as Student Ambassador Spotlight Leader for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Senator for the College of Arts and Sciences and President and Secretary of SAAC. She has been selected to the Dean's List every semester she has been enrolled and is an active volunteer with a community Transitional Living Center, as a Sexual Assault Advocate and crisis intervention counselor for Project Sister and Family Services, where she works the adult and child abuse hotline to provide confidential crisis counseling and outreach support.
