Leopards Sweep Puget Sound

La Verne, CA - The University of La Verne softball team welcomed Puget Sound to the confines of Leopards Softball Stadium for doubleheader action.

The Leopards, seeing their first action of the week, made an early and definitive statement in the first game of the doubleheader, defeating Puget Sound by a score of 11-3. The Leopards scored 4 runs in the opening inning. The first inning would also be the only inning that Puget Sound would score, as they were shut out by the Leopards. Haylee Hsieh scored 3 runs in the game and Marissa Acosta scored 2 runs in the game and added 3 RBIs.

In the second game of the doubleheader, La Verne and Puget Sound would battle it out through the final inning. The Leopards would score 6 runs in the last three innings to come from behind and secure the victory over Puget Sound. La Verne initially scored 2 runs in the first inning and then went into a deficit as Puget Sound took off and took control of the game. Several Leopards made significant contributions to secure the victory; Marissa Acosta had 3 RBIs in the game while Taylor Gray, Ashley Rodriguez and Haylee Hsieh each scored 2 runs for the Leopards. Taylor Fukunaga pitched 3 innings in the game and had 3 strikeouts.

The victory moves the Leopards to 3-2 on the season.
