Battle of the Coasts

La Verne, CA- The ladies of Campus West hosted the Manhattanville Valiants, in a doubleheader; this time with no weather complications. The players and fans could enjoy the games under the sunset. The games took patience from the Leopards, but it came down to a tied record against the east coast team, 1-1.

The afternoon started with previous SCIAC Pitcher of the Week, Jocelyn Robertson finishing out the first game with a 76-50 pitches-strikes ratio. With a low-scoring game, Robertson was a dynamic power on the mound to challenge the Valiants at bat. Robertson only allowed 4 hits and two runs, one in the 1st and one in the 6th. Closing Leopard pitcher Jaidyn Alvarez chucked 21 pitches to the Valiants to finish the game 0-2. The Leopards were ready to tackle the second game of the evening, this time with a different result.

Rachel Rubio dominated the mound the second game, pitching an advantageous 74-55, only allowing the Valiants one run. Rubio had a stellar performance, increasing her record to 4-2.

Leopards filled the bases all throughout the second game, threatening the Valiants with their strategic at-bats. The first RBI was awarded to Taylor Gray singling up the middle in the third inning.  Haylee Hsieh singled to left field in the fourth inning, also earning her first RBI of the doubleheader. Manhattanville attempted to pick up the pace in the seventh inning but they were too late as the Leopards closed out the game 3-1.
