La Verne, CA - The University of La Verne softball team hosted Whitworth for doubleheader action at The University of La Verne Softball Stadium.

Seeking to extend their winning streak against Whitworth, the Leopards made an early impact upon the game that proved valuable to the final outcome. The opening inning of play would essentially tell the story of the game. The Leopards scored two runs in the first inning as both Haylee Hsieh and Ashley Rodriguez would cross home plate, giving the Leopards a 2-1 lead over Whitworth. The remainder of the first game would be controlled by the mound and the outfield as pitcher Jocelyn Robertson would pitch all seven innings and throw 43 strikes in the victory. Hsieh and Isabella Garcia would each add an RBI in the game.

The second game of the doubleheader would not mirror the first game. The Leopards managed to get only 2 hits (Isabella Garcia and Taylor Gray) in the game and would not score a run as they fell to Whitworth 8-0. Rachel Rubio and Jaidyn Alvarez would combine to throw 48 strikes in the second game with one strikeout apiece. 

Next up for the Leopards; Brandeis at home on February 22nd. The first pitch will be thrown at 3:00 pm.
