LA VERNE, CA - The University of La Verne took one of two in double header action against the Occidental Tigers today, winning the three game SCIAC Conference series 2-1 to improve to 6-9 in conference play, and keeping their SCIAC playoff bid alive.
Game one. Rachel Rubio led the way for the Leopards throwing a complete game shutout - her second complete game of the series. Isabella Garcia and Jaylene Jaloma led the way for the offense, both bringing in a run for the Leopards. Those 2 runs proved to be the magic number, and the Leopards took the game 2-0.
Game 2. Cassandra Zapata led the offense going 1-2 with an RBI in the second inning to bring it to a one run game. The Leopard offense was unable to add another run to the board and eventually fell to the Tigers 1-4.
The Leopards will host Cal Lutheran Regals at 3 P.M. on Friday, April 28th at the University of La Verne.
