Leopards Sweep Ephs

La Verne, CA - The University of La Verne softball team hosted Williams College for an afternoon doubleheader.

The Leopards took a break from conference play as they took on the East Coast university. The Leopards would sweep the Ephs, earning the Leopards a 14-8 mid-season record.

For game one, the Leopards would get on the board early, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning. That would be the only hit for both teams to come home in the game. La Verne would have four hits vs. Williams College's two. Haylee Hsieh would go 2-3 at home plate. She would also add two more stolen bases, leading the SCIAC with 21 for the season, almost twice as many as the next player. Rachel Rubio would add a win to her record (8-3), giving up only two hits facing 23 batters. She threw 70 pitches, of which 52 were strikes. The Leopards would beat the Ephs by a score of 1-0.

The Leopards would get to a similar start for game two, scoring in the bottom of the first inning. La Verne would add three runs in the second half of the game, sealing their sweep by a score of 4-0. Haylee Hsieh would go 2-3 in game two and a stolen base in this game. Ashley Rodriguez, Isabella Garcia, and Clarissa Salazar would each have a run batted in for the Leopards to secure the victory. Jayden Alverez and Rachel Rubio would split the game with a combined 51 strikes thrown.

The University of La Verne will host Whittier College Friday, March 31st, for their next game at 3. P.M.
