LOS FELIZ, CA - The University of La Verne women's softball team went on the road today to take on the Occidental Tigers for a conference matchup. The Leopards entered the game with 5-8 SCIAC record ahead of the Tigers who sat at 1-9.

Rachel Rubio was strong on the mound, allowing only eight hits for the game, and was boosted by the Leopard defense who rallied behind her. Jaylene Jaloma and Taylor Grey each posted an RBI in the top of the sixth inning, bringing in both Leopard runs. The Leos held the Tigers to a one run fourth inning homerun effort by the Tigers, and final score was 2-1 La Verne.

Clarissa Salazar displayed her speed versatility by stealing three bases. With the win, Rachel Rubio leads the SCIAC win tally with ten on the season.

The Leopards will host the Occidental Tigers Saturday, April 15th in La Verne; the first pitch is set for 12 PM at Campus West.
